Springtime & Good news

Hello Everyone! I have been offered and have accepted a position at a magazine publisher. I start monday morning, which happens to the three-month anniversary of our arrival in New Zealand. Today is the first day of spring in the southern hemisphere, so to celebrate I am posting recent photos I have taken in our back yard.

Devonport & Takapuna

Over the last couple weeks, Eric and I took two day trips to Auckland's North Shore. We visited Mt. Victoria in Devonport and then Takapuna Beach. Of course, we were delighted with the spectacular views and natural beauty.

Devonport is really cute.

We found New Orleans in New Zealand! haha!

The view from the top.

We were able to see the places we had been:

Mission Bay and the Savage Memorial

The pier

Mt Eden

I took this one on the ferry ride home.

The ferry building (Takapuna trip)

I think it is neat that business men are able to take a stroll on a beach during the middle of the work day!

Thankfully the water is so clear, you can see creatures like these from far away!

A Flat White - the coffee here is so pretty! (and tasty)

Cox's Bay mudflats

We found what can only be described as large areas of mud that intermingled with the water, scattered with deceased sailboats. These are mudflats apparently, and people can and do get stuck in them from time to time, which we didn't find out until we got home this day. Luckily we were trying not to soil ourselves too much while out and about, so we were only walking on parts that looked and felt dry.

Sort of eerie but neat.
